PRESS RELEASES

Sports Performance Parenting, written by Gordon MacLelland and Sarah Murray

NC Fusion Families:

We are so pumped to announce that NC Fusion has partnered with “Working with Parents in Sport”, a UK-based company focused on equipping parents with children in sport. This partnership is designed to be an intentional way that we can equip all parents to better support their child’s sports journey – no matter the age or the stage that they’re in.

Please take a minute to hear from our CEO, Scott Wollaston, about this new partnership:

As Scott mentions in the video, this partnership provides two different opportunities:

  1. A BOOK! We have co-branded the book Sports Performance Parenting, written by Gordon MacLelland and Sarah Murray, that serves as an invaluable written resource for every step of the journey. After reading, our own Head of Coaching Ed and Technical Director, Mark Simpson, mentioned that “this book is one that every parent should read.”

  1. Author of Sports Performance Parenting, Gordon MacLelland, will hold several online webinars that dive deeper into topics covered in his text. The webinars will be very interactive and serve as an incredible complement to the material in the book.

If you’d like to take a step forward in supporting your athlete, the book is now available on our website in the NC Fusion Store. Once you purchase the book, you will receive a complimentary invitation to attend the fall and spring webinars. Please note, you will need to purchase the book to attend the webinars. Supplies and space are limited, as we have pre purchased a limited printing on the books.

Our entire full-time staff is in the process of reading the book, and we whole-heartedly believe that this material will be invaluable to all parents with children in sports, not just at NC Fusion.

WOMEN IN SPORTS

As parents, educators, and coaches, it's our job to make sure girls have equal opportunities in sports. Unfortunately, the number of girls who are dropping out of sports at an alarming rate is a cause for concern. By the age of 14, girls are dropping out of sports at twice the rate of boys. By the age of 17 more than half of girls (51%) will have quit a team sport.

Sports aren't just about physical activity — they're also about learning valuable life lessons. Teamwork, resilience, perseverance, confidence: these skills are integral parts of playing on a team and can last a lifetime. We want to see more girls equipped with these essential tools for success.

We believe that when girls play sports, everyone wins. That's why we created the "You Do Belong" initiative — to help young girls experience the power of sport.

It's time to build a better future for girls everywhere — join us!
